Golf Futures And FanDuel’s Masters Fantasy Game Tiding Over Fans This Month

[ad_1]

This time of year was supposed to be mecca for sports bettors and fans alike: the NCAA tournament leading into the Masters, officially teeing off the string of golf’s four majors. Alas, the coronavirus pandemic struck. And our thirst for spring golf went unquenched.

While The R&A has decided to cancel rather than postpone The Open, the other three majors have found new dates. The first will get going in early August. Bookmakers still have open golf sports betting markets for those tourneys’ winners. But major championship golf still remains four months away.

Fear not, however. Not all is lost.

FanDuel offering Masters simulation pool

We won’t have the Masters in April for the first time since the tournament’s inception in 1934. Astounding.

But FanDuel is keeping alive the tradition unlike any other.

Through the Masters fantasy golf game, participants can select a lineup of current golfers, past legends and even movie characters. The $10K PGA Sims Free Play Contest will then involve a simulation of the 2020 Masters tournament.

Each hole for every golfer will run through the numberFire simulator, which factors in distance and player skill, among other variables.

Players will have a $60,000 salary cap at their disposal and will use that money to fill out a six-golfer lineup. Lineups lock on Thursday, April 9 at noon ET. Winners of this free-to-play game will receive site credit.

So finally, debates can be settled: Could Happy Gilmore go toe-to-toe with Jack Nicklaus? Could Tiger Woods outlast Roy McAvoy? And how long could Judge Smails last in the same group as John Daly?

Three of four golf majors rescheduled

Organizers have already rescheduled three of golf’s four majors, setting up a monstrous fall lineup:

  • PGA Championship: Aug. 6-9
  • US Open: Sept. 17-20
  • Masters: Nov. 12-15

As it stands, each tournament will admit fans. Similarly, the FedEx Cup will run from Aug. 10 to Sept. 7. To boot, the Ryder Cup expects to take place a week after the US Open.

Combine this with football season, and we are in for one heck of a fall season.

Checking in on golf futures

Many books list Rory McIlory as the favorite in all three majors, a common trend over the past few years. After all, McIlroy remains a prolific player and needs only the Masters green jacket to complete the career grand slam. That said, he has not won a major tournament since 2014.

Other favorites include:

  • Brooks Koepka: four major titles since 2017
  • Dustin Johnson: US Open winner in 2016
  • Justin Thomas: claimed PGA Championship in 2017
  • Jon Rahm: four top-10 finishes at major tournaments over the past two years (no wins)
  • Tiger Woods: 15-time major champion, three shy of all-time record held by Jack Nicklaus

Futures Bets Unveiled Ahead Of 2020 Kentucky Derby Race

[ad_1]

If you’re like any other Kentucky Derby fiend and can’t wait till May to put on your derby day attire, sip mint juleps and wager on that special horse you’ve had your eye on, you will be happy to hear you can place a futures bet early.

The 2020 Kentucky Derby is the 146th running of the race and will take place on Saturday, May 2.

Kentucky Derby betting Futures

Futures bets traditionally take place before the start of a season, like selecting the winner of the 2020 World Series or who will be the 2020 NFL MVP.

The Kentucky Derby and Oaks Futures Wager is an opportunity for fans to bet early on which horse they think will earn a spot in the starting gate and go on to win the race, according to a press release.

Betting opens on Friday, March 6 at 12 p.m. ET, and goes till 6 p.m. ET Sunday, March 18.

Here’s more from the release:

“Future Wager bets typically offer larger payouts than betting the same horse on race day because it is not yet known which horses will ultimately qualify to run in the Derby. This Future Wager offers 24 potential contenders to bet on. 23 are individually named horses and the 24th option is a bet on “all others”. A bet on “all others” will win if any horse other than the 23 individually named in this pool wins the Kentucky Derby.”

Customers can head over to TVG where they can watch horse races from over 150 tracks across the country and place bets from their computer or mobile device.

2020 Kentucky Derby favorites

According to the current list distributed by the Kentucky Derby, Tiz the Law closed with 8-1 odds and is the current favorite after winning the Holy Bull Stakes on Feb. 1.

Seven horses have 30-1 odds with three horses currently holding 50-1 odds. Last year’s winner, Country House, had 30-1 odds, the highest since 2012 when I’ll Have Another won at 15-1. If you’re looking for a super long shot, you should be reminded that the last time a horse won with odds 50-1 or greater was in 2009 when Mine That Bird won at 51-1.

Regardless of where your head or your heart tells you to place your money, this should be exciting news for casual and experts bettors alike. With 58 days till the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports be sure to get your wagers in soon.
