One type of sports bet you can place is a teaser. These are generally left for only the NBA and NFL. The reason for this is because the points are a lot higher. The scores of hockey games and baseball games are usually less than 10, so it becomes too difficult to be able to judge the score of a game so low scoring.

A teaser bet is simply where you bet multiple games and you get extra points towards the point spread. However, you need to get all the games right and you usually just win your money back or roughly that amount. For example, say the Buffalo Bills are an underdog by 4 points and the Miami Dolphins are an underdog by 6 points. If you bet a teaser with these two teams, you would probably get an extra 6 points, so that means you get the Bills plus 10 and the Dolphins plus 12. The amount of points you get and the amount of payout vary by betting website.

A larger teaser you can do is a 3 team teaser. In this way, you would get 10 points for each point spread. So in the past example, you would get the Bills plus 14 and the dolphins plus 16, however, you would need to bet one more game to win.

While this seems at the time like these are can’t lose bets when you get an extra 6 or 10 points, these can be the biggest suck bets in the world. The oddsmakers have done extensive research on these bets and wouldn’t offer them if they didn’t feel they could make money from them. They have been around for awhile so they probably do make money from them. So be cautious when you see all these extra points!
